Parish News "Evening Under the Stars" Auction/Dinner Dance Plans are well underway for our 50th Anniversary "Evening Under the Stars" Auction/Dinner Dance, which will be held on Friday, November 3, at Alta Villa Banquets in Addison, Illinois. Letters have been sent to businesses and parishioners seeking donations for our Live and Silent Auctions. We are in need of people to help follow up on these letters. Many hands are needed to call and visit the businesses we have written to in an effort to obtain as many donations as possible. Do you have some time to spare to help us with this task? Without the help of willing parishioners, the task of obtaining items from businesses for the auction will make our efforts fruitless. WE NEED YOU! There are also many other areas where volunteers are needed: helping with decorations, parishioner donations, ticket sales, raffle tickets, etc. If you would be willing to help, we invite you to attend our next meeting on Thursday, October 12, at 7:30 p.m. in Barrett hall. Or you may call Sheila Reiter at 630- 833-6657 and let her know you are willing to help in a certain area. This year we have engaged a new DJ for the Dinner Dance/Auction. Guests of the dance may request songs in advance. If there is a particular song you would like to hear, you can access the request web page at http://www.kausphoto.djintelligence.com/request/queenofmary Once the web page is accessed you can type in a request or search for songs by both artist and song title. The DJ will do his best to play all the songs that are requested. If you have any questions, please contact Eileen Glick at 630-833-5725 or by email: eileenglick@gmail.com Get your table together now! The Auction/Dinner Dance is less than a month away. Tables are arranged to accommodate 10 people and the Ticket Donation is $40 per person.. Ticket Reservations can be made by contacting Joel and Diane Bernstein at 630-279-7252. This is our 50th anniversary year and we are hoping to make this event a really special occasion, so please invite your friends and relatives to join us and don't forget about inviting previous parishioners. The proceeds from this benefit will be used to help support our Church Mission of reaching out to those who are hungry, sick and otherwise in need; supporting our youth who are the future of the Church and our world; and supporting the various ministries in our parish which allow us to live our lives through faith, hope, and loving service to all. MQH Garden Club You've probably noticed the splashes of color around the MQH campus this summer. We thought it was time to acknowledge the garden angels who planted and have been keeping the flowers growing and blooming. It all started way back in May when several members of the Club came out and planted. Then there was the watering, weeding, and pruning. We've been able to enjoy the beauty throughout the summer, as well as right into autumn with the flowering sedums and the mums. Kudos to Jose and Rosemarie Pizarro, Ron Cirone, Derrick StaRosa, Kelly Guerra, Mary White, Ed Hayes, Don Jacobsen, Phylis Twardowski, Carol Achtien, Michelle Zielinski, Susan Hadawi, Chuck Dolessy, and anyone who might have pruned a dead flower or pulled a weed! We will be looking for you to join us at the upcoming Ministry Fair on the weekend of October 14-15! If you would like to know more about us, please call Sheila Reiter at 833-6657 or Rose Wilkes at 833-7238. Bereavement Ministry Update The Bereavement Ministry Team continues to meet regularly to learn more about the Ministry of Consolation and expand our abilities to serve bereaved families. The month of November is reserved as a time to remember those who have died. This year we will have our Table of Remembrance where all are encouraged to bring a framed photo of loved ones to be placed on the table as a way to honor those who helped form us. (place your name and phone # on the back of the photos). The table will be set up the weekend of October 21-22 and will remain up until November 12. Please mark your calendars for the All Souls Day Mass to be held on November 2 at 7:30 p.m. This is a time for the entire parish to gather in prayer, praise and thanksgiving. Those who have lost a loved one this past year will receive a special invitation, but ALL are invited and will be part of a candle lighting ceremony. Attention Catholic Lawyers! Auxiliary members would receive minutes of each P&J committee meeting. Thereby, they would be "in the know."
