April Celebrations We welcome into the Mary Queen of Heaven Parish Family the following who were baptized in April: Benjamin Stephen Bingham Charlotte Marie Bingham Patrick William Cote Matthew Dean Guerra Devin Scott Smego Mateo Jordan Villalvazo Luke Stanley Wojcik "AND THE WINNER IS ..." by Derrick StaRosa, Stewardship Committee Co-Chair Sheila Reiter, Stewardship Committee Co-Chair A couple of weeks ago, our Parish concluded the year- long 50th Anniversary celebration with the Parish Grand Raffle. Without a doubt, the excitement in the gathering area and the thought of winning one of the three prizes provided a lot of positive energy. As the Raffle Committee made the final drive to sell tickets, some of the prospective winners talked about using the prize money for a shopping spree, a down payment for a new car, home repair and a vacation to the tropics! What added to the pleasantry of the day of the drawing was our Fellowship, which was full of great food, conversation and fun! Like most raffles, the element of chance enters the equation and the winner is determined by luck. Or, is it? Beyond the opportunity of winning a prize, the proceeds of the raffle went to reducing the Parish deficit. Last year, the Parish Finance Committee spoke to the congregation about the need to increase revenue and reduce spending. Because each one of us was called to both of these challenges, we believe that our finances will be better than what we originally projected. It is worth repeating that "we" are all a part of the solution. By the time you read this, the raffle prizes will have been given to the winners. However, this raffle actually yielded more than three winners. The winners of the raffle include the more than 800 families that belong to Mary Queen of Heaven Parish. Then there are the 525 children who participate in our Religious Education program. There are also the many recipients of the assistive services provided by our St. Vincent de Paul Society. So, the winner really is...all of us at Mary Queen of Heaven! A Vocation View Can you imagine a country running on Jesus' one law of "love one another"? No wars. No hunger. No thirst. No jealousy. Only loving followers of Jesus. Eucharistic Adoration The Worship Commission would like to thank all who have been able to come and spend some time with Our Lord during our days of adoration, usually the first Monday of the month. This month we reach our two-year anniversary since beginning this devotion. "The saints ... were faithful, ardent adorers of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. ... Eucharistic Adoration has always been considered the closest likeness we have to the eternal adoration in which will consist the whole of our Paradise." (Jesus Our Eucharistic Love by Manelli) For those who haven't had the opportunity, if there's anything you need to thank or praise God for, to express sorrow for, or to ask for, know that He waits for you to come and spend some time with Him present in the monstrance at our next Day of Eucharistic Adoration, Monday, May 7, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The day of adoration and prayer closes with Benediction at 7:00 p.m. All are invited to join us any time during the day as well as for Benediction.
