Dear Parishioners of Mary Queen of Heaven Parish,
Greetings in the Lord Jesus!
I am writing today to make a special announcement. You may be aware that this time of year I am engaged in the process of deciding clergy assignments to take effect during the summer. It is always my hope to have a priest as full-time pastor of all our parishes, and this year our clergy personnel board has been discussing the appointment of a priest to serve as full-time pastor of Mary Queen of Heaven. In a few weeks I will announce who your new pastor will be.
For the past 4 years, Dr. Mary Foley has led your parish as Pastoral Life Coordinator, and Fr. James Murphy has served as your canonical pastor. I want to take this opportunity to thank them both and to offer special thanks to Dr. Foley. She has put her many years of pastoral training and experience to good use as your Pastoral Life Coordinator, dedicating countless hours and energy to serving you and helping make your parish vibrant and strong. I am personally grateful to her, as I know you are. As she prepares to leave your parish in June, I ask that you join me in expressing heartfelt gratitude for her ministry.
Likewise, I know you will welcome your new pastor when his name is announced and when he joins you in June. A parish is strong when it keeps its eyes and heart on the Lord Jesus, the shepherd who guides us along the way of peace.
Sincerely in Christ,
J. Peter Sartain
Bishop of Joliet

All persons who are ill, handicapped, elderly or in need of this special blessing are invited and encouraged to attend. Rides and assistance will be provided to anyone who has a need. Please let us know in advance so that we can make arrangements for someone to either drive you or assist you when you arrive for Mass. A light luncheon will be served in Barrett Hall immediately after Mass for all who attend.
Please call the parish house (279-5700) and let Sr. Marlene know if you will be attending so that we can have an idea of how many people to expect at Church and for the luncheon. For more information, please contact Sheila Reiter at 833-6657.
FELLOWSHIP SUNDAY
Sunday, April 13th
This month’s Fellowship Sunday will be held on April 13th.. All are encouraged to attend our 10:30 a.m. Liturgy and join us in Barrett Hall for fellowship with our parishioners. A Vocation View
We can feel the Lord’s call at the strangest places and times. The call can haunt us and pursue us until we say, “Lord, what will you have me do?”
Little Rock Scripture Study
The next Scripture Study offering by the Adult Ed and Spirituality Committee will be the Book of Wisdom. We will be studying the importance, background, and composition of this Old Testament Book. Was this book actually written by Solomon? Can the Wisdom of the Old Testament be relevant in our lives today? Come and help us find the answers to these and many more interesting questions that await us in this new study.
Sign-up Weekends today and April 12/13, 2008. The study will begin the week of April 28, 2008 and continue through the week of June 2, 2008.
If you are interested in becoming a facilitator please contact one of the committee members or the Parish office. You will be given training and materials to help you in your groups. Our final leader meeting for all facilitators, new or returning, will be Sunday, April 27, 2008. More information will be forthcoming.
Study materials will be available for purchase on the sign-up weekends for $12.00 and scholarships are available by contacting Dr. Mary Foley.

Thank You,
Thank You
I can not THANK all the wonderful people enough for sharing their Time and Treasure. I had a great deal of help from the parents as well as young adults, not just eighth graders. I think that it is important for the young adults to help because it shows appreciation to all the adults that helped run activities for them. Also, thank you to all the people who helped who do not have children participating in the egg hunt. I hold these people in great honor. It is because of these people that other parents can enjoy this special time. I would encourage all parents who have had or will someday have the opportunity to enjoy special days like this to help us continue to run children’s events such as this one. A very special Thank You to Dr. Mary Foley who helped encourage me to see the importance of continuing this event this year, seeing the smiles and talking to the children afterwards was “Priceless”. Too many names to mention, So Thank You to all that helped, God, you, and I know who you are. —Jerry Cote

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
WAY TO A TRULY PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS!!! …Adoration helps people to be more personally involved with Christ because it makes the Eucharist more central in the lives of people. By spending time with Jesus in the Eucharist, one is able to establish a truly personal relationship with Him.
(Missionaries of the Blessed Sacrament)
During this Easter season when the night of the institution of the Holy Eucharist is still fresh in our memories, for those who haven’t had the opportunity, if there’s anything you need to thank or praise God for, to express sorrow for, or to ask for, know that He waits for you to come and spend some time with Him present in the monstrance at our next Day of Eucharistic Adoration, Monday, April 7, 2008 from 9 AM to 7 PM. Spend time in quiet memorized prayer, meditative prayer, reading the scriptures, etc.. The day of adoration and prayer closes with Benediction at 7:00 PM. All are invited to join us any time during the day, as well as for Benediction. We are in need of people to sign up for an hour of adoration, especially the 6 PM hour. Please see the large sign-up poster in the back of church.
INTERNET SAFETY PROGRAM
The CCW will host a special program on Internet Safety for Children and Teens on Tuesday, April 15th at 7:30 p.m. in Barrett Hall. This program is being held in conjunction with the Elmhurst Police Department and all parents are encouraged to attend. Are you aware that as of April 2006, MySpace had a growth rate of 367% from April 2005 to April 2006. Blogger, another popular site for children and teens, grew 80%? Not only did these social networking sites have tremendous growth in one year, they also have extremely high retention rates due to their interactive nature. Parents must take an active role in protecting their children if these sites are used. Please join us and find out what you should be doing to protect your children and teens. Refreshments will be served following the program.
MUSIC MINISTRY
If you would like to participate in the Music Ministry, please see Interim Music Director/Pianist Tim Barton or call 847-223-0760.
RCIA Missing Photos
Whoever took down the RCIA bulletin board, please return the photos. We need those for our next bulletin board and eventually they are placed in our RCIA album. It is time now to create a post-Easter bulletin board so please return the pictures ASAP to Dr. Mary Foley, Mimi Wolak or Tom Nanak. Thank you!

AUCTION/DINNER DANCE
Our 10th Annual “Evening Under the Stars” Auction/Dinner Dance was an evening of great fun for all who attended. The evening with its “Memorable 20’s Theme” was delightful especially looking upon those attendees that came dressed in 20’s attire for the occasion. The ladies were stunning and the men were handsome. One of the “High Spots” of the evening was our surprise auctioneer, Judy Fuchsen. She was tremendous, not only did she dress the part but her repertoire was marvelous. Thank you Judy for a super job! Decorations, food, music and everyone who attended and helped made the evening a joyful one for everyone. The net profit for this event was $12, 719.64.
